Delivery Report Status Codes

The following rules apply to all outbound message Originator Addresses (the “number” from which your messages are sent). Originators are not validated when sending messages - an invalid originator may result in messages not being delivered to destination carriers.

Code

Description

0 The message has been successfully delivered to network and is pending delivery to the destination carrier and handset.
1 The message has been successfully delivered to the handset.
2 Delivery failed due to one of a number of reasons, including invalid number, customer account disabled, inbound SMS barring enabled on handset.
3 Delivery is delayed for a number of reasons, including the destination carrier being offline, the customer handset is turned off, or customer account suspended.

 

Valid Originator Addresses

The following rules apply to all outbound message Originator Addresses (the “number” from which your messages are sent).

Format

Description

Numeric originators

 Numbers starting with 614xxxxxxxx 

Short code originators

 Numbers starting with 13, 18 or 19

Alpha numerical originators

 Up to 11 characters, where at least one of the 11 must be a letter (Alpha) 

Prohibited originator addresses
Sending messages with any other originator will result in message delivery failures to the Telstra network, and may result in inconsistent delivery rates for other destination networks.

We recommend using the following characters only, to ensure delivery of messages to destination networks:

0 to 9, A to Z, a to z, space = . / @ ? * + ! % & ( ) , - $ < >
